Chest Diseases Hospital Leads in Training for Aortic Valve Implantation via Catheter

Dr. Abdullah Al-Anzi, Head of the Cardiology Department at Chest Diseases Hospital, revealed that the hospital has become the first center in the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe to train doctors on performing aortic valve implantation via catheter. In a press statement, Al-Anzi explained that the valve team at Chest Diseases Hospital completed the first training program for doctors from the region. This program marks the first in a series of training initiatives aimed at educating catheterization specialists from the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe who are interested in performing these procedures.
The training covered building a comprehensive program for treating heart valve diseases via catheter, selecting the appropriate valve for each patient, and training on reading CT scans of the aortic valve to prepare for the procedure. The program also included detailed guidance on performing the procedure safely in accordance with global recommendations.
Dr. Khaled Al-Mari, Head of the Cardiac Catheterization Unit at the hospital, confirmed that the program also included training on using ultrasound devices for catheter placement in blood vessels and managing potential complications during such procedures. Al-Mari added that Chest Diseases Hospital’s selection as a distinguished center for treating heart diseases reflects the hospital’s global standards and the extensive experience of its medical team.
