Chest Diseases Hospital Performs First Aortic Valve Replacement Procedure Using New Technology in the Middle East
Chest Diseases Hospital, affiliated with the Ministry of Health, has announced the successful completion of two aortic valve replacement procedures using the latest EVOLUT FX valve technology. This makes Kuwait the first country in the Middle East to use this technique after the United States.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Anzi, Head of the Adult Cardiology Department at the hospital, stated that this achievement is part of the hospital's ongoing efforts to adopt and benefit from global, cutting-edge technologies.
The procedures were carried out by the hospital's valve team, under the supervision of Dr. Khaled Al-Merri, for two patients in their eighties, both of whom had severe aortic valve stenosis requiring valve replacement. The new valve is known for its ease and precision in installation, leading to fewer complications and reduced use of contrast dye.
Dr. Al-Anzi highlighted that the new valve also shortens the procedure time and facilitates future coronary catheterization if needed. He commended the Ministry of Health for its commitment to providing the latest global technology and techniques to deliver the best medical services to patients in the country.
