Coronary Care Unit (CCU)

The Coronary Care Unit provides critical care for patients with life-threatening cardiac conditions, including:

  • Hemodynamic instability requiring fluids or pharmacologic support

  • Septic shock

  • Cardiac arrest

  • Life-threatening arrhythmias

  • Unstable heart failure

  • Cardiac tamponade

  • Retroperitoneal bleeding

  • Cardiomyopathies requiring intensive monitoring

  • Acute coronary syndrome

  • Patients undergoing thrombolytic therapy

  • Critical cardiac infections or inflammation (e.g., pericarditis requiring intervention)

  • Severe electrolyte disturbances

  • Patients needing mechanical or advanced pharmacological cardiac support (e.g., IABP, ECMO, antiarrhythmics)

Cardiology Wards

The inpatient cardiology wards care for adults with a range of heart conditions, including:

  • Acute coronary syndrome

  • Cardiomyopathy and heart failure

  • Cardiac arrhythmias

  • Congenital heart diseases

  • Valvular heart diseases

  • Resistant hypertension

Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab)

The Cath Lab performs both elective and emergency cardiac procedures, including:

  • Coronary angiogram and angioplasty

  • Cardiac catheterization for cardiac output evaluation and congenital defect diagnosis

  • Pericardiocentesis

  • Transcatheter valve procedures:

    • Aortic (TAVR)

    • Pulmonary (TPVI)

    • Mitral and Tricuspid repair (M&T-TEER)

  • Balloon valvuloplasty

  • Renal denervation

  • Alcohol septal ablation

  • Closure of structural defects (ASD, VSD, PDA, PFO, paravalvular leaks)

  • Mechanical Circulatory Support devices including IABP, Impella CP, Impella RP, and ECMO.

Arrhythmia & Device Unit

This unit provides diagnosis and treatment for rhythm disorders, including:

  • Implantation of ICDs (single, dual, bi-ventricular, subcutaneous)

  • Temporary or permanent pacemaker implantation

  • Leadless pacemaker and dual chamber systems

  • Left atrial appendage closure devices (WATCHMAN)

  • Loop/reveal implantable monitors

  • Electrical cardioversion

  • Electrophysiology studies and ablation (radiofrequency, cryo, or pulsed field)4. Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery

  • Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy clinic

Echocardiography Unit

Comprehensive cardiac imaging including:

  • Transthoracic echocardiography

  • Transesophageal echocardiography
