The infection control department is an essential part of the Chest Diseases Hospital, integrated into all hospital departments' activities. The department aims to enhance the concept of Infection prevention and control among all healthcare workers, and minimize the risk and complications of acquiring healthcare-associated infection among patients and healthcare workers through: - Surveillance - Optimal implementation of Infection control policies and procedures, such as Hand hygiene, Aseptic technique, disinfection, sterilization, Isolation, proper utilization of antibiotics, and medical waste management - Best practices/standardization of science-based bundles for medical devices placed in the patient - Education - Occupational health and safety - Infection control risk assessment during construction (renovation and new construction) - Outbreak investigation and management

The infection control nurse’s office is located on the second floor, Annex building, in the Chest Diseases Hospital - Sabah Medical area. The department is ready for training, guiding, and auditing of all healthcare workers and patients.

- Continuous upgrading of employees’ education and skills.

- Actively participating in the structured teaching of residents in the Microbiology Board.

- Training of Healthcare workers on Infection Control practice (doctors, nurses, and technicians)
