The purpose of the department is to carry out appropriate interventions and treatment to facilitate survival and recovery from illness. Pediatric ward is committed to the community of children and their family affected with congenital and acquired cardiac defects by providing the finest possible health education and treatment facilities-ie, restorative, palliative and rehabilitative care.

Pediatric Electrophysiology A pediatric electrophysiology service at Chest hospital was recently established and involved a specialized clinic for managing pediatric patients with arrhythmia and syncope. Our electrophysiologist covers the clinic and reviews 10-15 patients weekly. All the different diagnostic electrophysiological procedures are available, as well as the interventional ones such as ablation for different types of arrhythmias and implantation of intra-cardiac defibrillators
Advanced Cardiac Imaging, Cardiac CT angiography is used frequently at Chest hospital to evaluate children with congenital heart disease and poor echo windows. We perform around 300 CT angiograms annually. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is also utilized because it offers a non-invasive functional and hemodynamic assessment. It is an essential tool in the decision-making of some conditions, such as trans-catheter pulmonary valve implantation.
Inpatient Services, Pediatric ward consists of 45 in-patient beds, including the Paediatric Cardiac Step-down (HDU) unit and the Paediatric Cardiology Ward (PCW), In addition to 14 Pediatric cardiac Intensive Care beds for critical cases and post-operative care.
